Join Axis Bank’s Legal Team: Legal Associate
Location: Mumbai | Department: Law
Axis Bank’s Law Department is seeking a qualified and motivated Legal Associate to join our dynamic legal team in Mumbai. If you have a strong legal background and a passion for banking, this role offers an exciting opportunity to support various legal functions within the bank.
A. Qualification:
• Education:
• The candidate must have an LL.B. degree (or equivalent) recognized by the Bar Council of India from a university/college in India.
B. Key Responsibilities:
• Legal Support to Branches: Provide legal guidance on credit, retail, wholesale, foreclosure, collections, premises, and outsourcing contracts, among other banking-related issues.
• Legal Opinions: Offer legal advice under various laws including banking laws, RBI Regulations, FEMA, company laws, business laws, criminal laws, and civil laws.
• Credit Documentation: Assist branches with credit documentation, drafting necessary documents as per business requirements.
• Insolvency & Structured Finance: Advise on matters related to the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, structured finance, capital market transactions, and M&A.
• Document Drafting: Draft non-standard documents and review modifications to standard documents suggested by clients.
• Litigation Management: Handle complex litigation matters and liaise with external counsel to ensure effective case management.
• Branch Legal Support: Provide day-to-day legal support for branches, addressing issues related to account documentation, cheque processing, and other banking operational matters.
• Product & Marketing Legal Guidance: Advise on legal issues concerning new product features and marketing initiatives, ensuring compliance with relevant laws.
• Vendor Contracts: Review vendor contracts and provide legal input on banking operations.
• Premises & Lease Matters: Draft and vet lease agreements, ATM agreements, Memorandum of Understanding, etc.
• Legal Updates: Keep business and operations units informed of legal changes in state or central laws, regulations, and court decisions.
• External Counsel Liaison: Retain and manage external counsel, monitoring performance to ensure cost control.
• Other Responsibilities: Handle additional tasks as assigned by senior members of the Law Department.
