Leveraged Portfolio Group Analytics – SVP Portfolio Manager
The Global Leveraged Portfolio Group Credit Team (“LPG”) within Institutional Credit Management (“ICM”) is seeking a Portfolio Manager to join its Analytics team. The Portfolio Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating a team of Analysts and Associates, providing quality assurance, timely delivery, and analytical rigor while being the primary contact for coaching and supervising the junior team.
LPG Portfolio Managers will oversee the credit monitoring support for Citi’s Leveraged Finance Portfolio. They will also support LPG’s underwriters in Citi’s credit approval and origination process for leveraged finance transactions, assisting clients in raising funds in the capital markets. The Portfolio Manager is a senior level professional that leads and drives a best-in-class Leveraged Lending Underwriting organization with a goal of materially enhancing Citi’s end-to-end Leveraged Lending credit management process through early problem recognition and timely response to credit challenges across the Leveraged Finance portfolio. This will be achieved through a strong partnership with Underwriters, Banking, Capital Markets and Risk.
An LPG Portfolio Manager is expected to have an advanced understanding of credit risk, of Citi´s internal policies and procedures, and of being knowledgeable about the industry fundamentals that portfolio belongs to. They should be able to independently lead thoughtful conversations with all the partners.
Portfolio Manager Role and Responsibilities:
Accountability for ensuring best in class credit risk analysis of the Leveraged Finance Portfolio ensuring consistencies with industry leading practices and compliance with all internal policies, standards, procedures, and all related regulatory expectations. Provide critical support and leadership across LPG’s core functions:
(1) Regular monitoring of the portfolio through writing Annual and Quarterly reviews
(2) Portfolio management and early problem recognition
(3) Participation in new originations, primarily for existing relationships
(4) Coaching and training analysts and associates to develop their credit underwriting skills
(5) Ensuring strict adherence to Citi’s Policies/Standards/Procedures
Supervise analysts and associates to perform periodic written reviews of the clients' financial and operating performance, covenant compliance, management/relationship strategy, and competitive position within its peer group
Review and analyze models used for valuation and to forecast the client's operating and financial performance and be able to articulate assumptions and analysis to LPG Underwriters and Risk
Ensure ongoing and timely feedback and coaching of junior team to sustain a strong credit culture and an unwavering commitment to excellence in analysis and execution
Evaluate and gain strong understanding of clients' business, financial performances, and key credit drivers across various industries with the ability to raise issues and concerns as needed
Remain current on all relevant Leveraged Lending market trends and issues
Skills/Competencies:
Team player with strong work ethic who also works well with others
Strong writing, analytical, communication, and presentation skills
Experience in leading a team and in coaching and mentoring junior bankers
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to break down large amounts of data into concise, easy to understand credit recommendations
Thorough understanding of the credit and/or portfolio management process
Strong awareness and adherence to the control environment including Quality Assurance and Quality Control
Proven culture carrier
Qualifications:
13-16 years of credit or related leveraged finance experience
MBA or CA or CFA
