The Levies compliance team is responsible for the delivery of an annual risk-based compliance program that encourages levy payers to comply with legislation and provides assurance to government and industry stakeholders that levy collections are materially complete.

The Funding and Revenue Branch is the 'policy' arm of Finance and Investment Division. The Funding and Revenue Branch is responsible for leading and delivering cost recovery services and advice, external budgets and costing support, portfolio agency engagement on financial matters, levies policy and administration, levies compliance functions and oversee the delivery of the finance improvement strategy. Our work requires public service professionals in administrative, policy and financial roles that come together under the leadership of our directors. Our work is often high profile, and we get to engage directly with the department's external stakeholders including industry, representative groups, and our Minister.

The Levies compliance team is responsible for the delivery of an annual risk-based compliance program that encourages levy payers to voluntarily comply with legislation and provides assurance to government and industry stakeholders that levy collections are materially complete. The Levies compliance team mitigates the risks of non-compliance by establishing and undertaking effective compliance activities in line with the regulatory responsibilities outlined in legislation and the department's regulatory responsibilities.

This is where you play an important role.
As the Levies Regional Compliance Offices, you will:

Travel for up to one week at a time in metropolitan and regional areas across all states to inspect and interpret business and financial records pertaining to the collection and payment of agricultural levies and to ensure compliance with related legislation.
Managing a diverse caseload of clients (levy collection agents) accounts across multiple agriculture sectors, ensuring their compliance with levy related legislation.
Monitoring and following up on client enquiries, levy returns, new accounts and penalty remissions.
Exercising the powers of an Authorised Officer in a regulatory, investigation and compliance role, identifying breaches of legislation and recommending action.
With your team participate in add hock projects and research activities to identify new levy agents.
Participating in the planning and implementation of a variety of proactive strategies to promote and encourage voluntary compliance in a regulatory environment.
Maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Please note that the merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.
The successful applicant will be required to undertake a Q-Fever tests and Q-Fever immunisation may be required, at the Departments expense, where immunity cannot be established.

Knowledge and Experience
The successful applicants will demonstrate the following:
Demonstrated understanding of operational and financial business processes in a commercial environment.
Demonstrated experience in a results orientated, client focused role.
Demonstrated experience in a financial, compliance, regulatory or similar role.
Proven ability to review and interpret financial and operational records.
Demonstrated experience managing a diverse range of commercial clients.
Skills and capabilities
The successful applicants will demonstrate all or some of the following:
Highly developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders in a sensitive and confidential manner
Ability to review, interpret and analyse data, accounting and business records.
Ability to operate autonomously and manage competing priorities.
Solid research and problem-solving skills.
The ability to quickly acquire an understanding of the Agriculture Primary industries Levy system and related legislation.
Tertiary qualifications in business, accounting or a related field will be highly regarded.

Mandatory Qualification
The department requires the successful candidate to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting security clearance.

The successful candidate:
Must hold and maintain a valid Australian motor vehicle drivers licence.
