Our Libraries team is made up of dedicated, passionate individuals who enjoy working with and for our community. We’re looking for a Librarian (Adult Programming & Outreach) to join our dedicated team based in Queenstown.
What you’ll be doing / He aha te mahi
You will be responsible at the branch level for the development and management of community partnerships, outreach services and adult programmes for Queenstown Lakes Libraries. As a senior member of the branch team, you will act in a supervisory capacity in the Team Leader’s absence or as required and will support the Team Leader to deliver key operational functions.
The role will involve:
Developing and delivering engaging and relevant community events and programmes, targeted at adults
Managing annual programmes and events e.g., Adult Reading Challenge, Digital Drop-ins, Stepping Up, Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori, and other special events for the branch library
Supporting and promoting the use of Te Reo and development of matauranga Maori across physical and digital platforms
Assisting customers with information and reference enquiries, troubleshooting and problem-solving
Contributing to the effective management of the Queenstown Lakes Libraries collections including purchasing (acquisitions), weeding, and item processing as required
What you’ll bring to the role / Ko wai to Pukeka
You will have 2-3 years’ experience in GLAM or educational sector (or relevant customer facing role) and will have experience with different systems, databases and administering processes effectively.
To best succeed in this role, you’ll have:
A Diploma in Library and Information Studies, relevant tertiary-level qualification (NZQF Level 6) or other relevant qualifications
Experience in working with community groups, social service agencies, educational institutions, government agencies and stakeholder partners
Excellent communication, relationship building and interpersonal skills
