Selection Criteria
1. Well developed knowledge and skills and proven experience in management of a Library
2. Demonstrated organisational skills and a capacity to manage a budget and a large and complex environment.

¿ the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with members of the school community including students and the capacity to provide support to students where necessary
¿ the ability to effectively liaise with school staff, suppliers and other outside agencies
¿ the ability to report to and effectively liaise with the School Principal Team and Business Manager
5. Ability to accept and implement instructions and to complete designated tasks, without supervision
Role
Range 3 is distinguished by the introduction of management responsibility and accountability for the delivery of professional support services. The role will usually impact beyond the work area or professional field. It seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as in school administration, operations or educational programs.
Direction on targets and goals is provided but the position will have some degree of latitude in determining how they are achieved. This latitude will generally be limited by standard procedures and school policy. Deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management.
The provision of business management responsibilities becomes a feature at range 3. Management of staff to achieve the expected outcomes is a key responsibility. Staff management issues will be resolved with minimal reference to senior management, although guidance will be required in more complex cases. Senior management will be provided with timely reports and advice, although this will generally be confined to matters relating to the immediate work area, service provision or educational program and is unlikely to impact substantially on whole of school operations.
This is the minimum range for positions that carry a mandatory qualification requirement of not less than four years. Professional student support positions become a feature at range 3 (e.g. therapists, psychologists) where standard professional services are delivered. Professional support and guidance will be close at hand and deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

Position Purpose:
The role of a Library Manager is to provide a high level of support to the staff, the student body and parents that reflects 21st Century Learning. Provision of high quality resources and equipment to enhance and support student learning is a key component of this service. The Librarian¿s role will mostly be concerned with running the day to day services in the Library. To empower Library users to be thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers and ethical users of information.
Context
The Library Manager will provide a high level of professional assistance regarding Library enquiries received.
The position is required to work cooperatively and consistently with both internal and external clients and involves close interaction with a range of staff and visitors to Warrandyte High School
DETAILED DUTY LIST
Key Tasks
Management of Library
Manage Library resources, equipment and have a clear understanding of budget processes
To maintain the Library as an active, vibrant, orderly and efficient learning area of the Warrandyte high School
Preparation of resources for use.
Maintain a healthy and safe working environment.
Ensure identified risks regarding equipment, resources and facilities are reported to appropriate OH&S personnel within the school
Manage appropriate cataloguing and borrowing systems for resources, equipment and teaching aids that support Warrandyte High School's needs
Student Support
Up to date knowledge of young adult literature
Produce, promote and display relevant materials to students and staff which creates a welcoming learner-centred environment
Provide opportunities for students to become resourceful, independent users of the Library
Supervise small numbers of students in various study situations within the Library, as appropriate.
Plan and conduct Library research skills tutorials for Year 7 induction and for other small groups of students as required
Prepare equipment for teacher and student use
Encouraging student participation in literacy events such as Book Week.Organise, promote and run extra-curricular literacy activities such as Book Club, Lunchtime activities/ competitions, excursions, guest speakers and other Library programs
Teacher Support
Advise on, and where appropriate provide, teaching staff with relevant resources to support the teaching of the curriculum
Implement and organise research, reading and literacy programs to support teachers in the development of sophisticated literacy skills in students
Liaise with Principal to undertake relevant staff professional development and training.
Source potential staff/student resources for appraisal
Manage, facilitate and promote use of Clickview
Administration
Assist in the planning, submitting, implementing and evaluation of program budgets for the Library
Conduct an annual stock take of resources (Nov/Dec)
In conjunction with the publicity and marketing area, create material for displays/promotional material within the Library
Undertake other duties relevant to the field of responsibility as requested by the Business Manager or Principal
Update the Library¿s online presence
Liaise with relevant staff regarding the co-ordination of Student booklists annually and as required
In-depth knowledge of copyright, fair use, and licensing of intellectual property particularly digital resources. Ensure school community are using information ethically and legally
Maintain photocopier/printer in the library
Manage Archives and ensure the longevity of relevant historical materials
