The resource will report to the Group Leader of Information Services
The candidate is required to hold a Reliability Security Clearance from the Government of Canada pplication.
The resource will support Library Services by maintaining statistics that report on quality and volume of work, assisting in maintenance of the library collections, and working on projects as required.

Specific Library skills:
Creating a complete bibliographic record from scratch when no existing record is available:
Identify and describe the physical attributes and intellectual responsibility of an item
determine what the resource is about to help users find materials on a particular topic
assign standardized subject terms from a controlled vocabulary
assign unique classification notation according to established classification scheme(s).
Library duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide administrative and technical support of a clerical nature as required to the Library group.
Act as the first point of contact by accepting incoming communication, attempting to resolve simple problems and following established procedures for more complex requests.
Receive incoming e-mail: prioritize, assess urgency, manage responses.
Research and locate background information: analyze, extract relevant information and provide information to team members and clients.
Communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively with co-workers and clients both verbally and in writing.
Provide technical knowledge and services to Library projects.
Maintaining the Library's collection(s), which includes books, digital resources, and multimedia
Conducting reference interviews, directing clients to appropriate sources and assisting with the use of automated library systems.
Searching for and retrieving information in all media from current or archived Library physical and electronic holdings.
Keeping statistics on Library services and other areas of interest.
Delivering Library support services such as mail handling, general maintenance of the collection and keeping statistics on reference, publication distribution and other areas of concern or interest.
Cataloguing and classifying Library resources using electronic cataloguing systems in accordance with established rules, systems and standards.
Assigning subject descriptors, cross-references and added entries.
Processing regulatory documents and hearing indices for dissemination or other action.
Creating ad hoc reports on Library acquisitions, catalogues, activities and budget.
Identifying Library materials that need to be removed or restored; repairing identified damaged materials and assisting with the preparation of asset removal according to LAC MIDA on the Disposal of Surplus Publications in Government Institutions.
Conditions and Requirements:
There are physical demands that are regularly required to perform this job. The temporary resource must be able to:
lift packages, equipment, and materials up to 15 kgs. (approx. 33 lbs.);
cope with an increased amount of dust in the air;
bend, stoop and kneel frequently; and
spend a large part of the day standing up and moving around.
Will be required to work Monday to Friday 7.5 hours daily (exclusive of lunch breaks and of Federal Statutory Holidays).
Please note: This will be a hybrid position requiring four (4) in-office days. Monday – Thursday the individual is required to be in the office at Calgary, AB. Friday will be a remote day.
There is paid parking on-site, however, we are responsible for the cost of parking or transportation to or from the office.

Pay: $22.00-$24.00 per hour
