Your Opportunity:

The Peter Lougheed Center Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (PLC NICU) is a 27 bed, level 2 unit located in Calgary, Alberta. Care has a significant focus on feeding progression, preparation for discharge home as well as supporting the busiest labor and delivery department in the Calgary zone. The successful candidate will be required to coordinate the delivery of nursing care for the premature and critically ill neonate. The nurse will participate in family teaching and provide leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards of professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. The nurse will be able to maintain positive working relationships with parents, families, and co-workers, and be able to independently manage multiple priorities. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:
Recent acute care infant/pediatric experience required. Demonstrated ability to perform physical assessments. Basic Computer skills are an asset. Demonstrated ability to work well with team members. Demonstrated excellence of organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Must work to full scope of practice including but not limited to IV initiation certification.

Preferred Qualifications:
Recent NICU experience preferred. Fluent in spoken and written English Current NRP certification Connect Care experience an asset
