Lifeguard & Children’s Program Instructor
Department: Wellness Institute Fitness Programs and Services
Part-time Contract Position – up to 6 hours per week on contract basis
Salary Information: $25-30/hr
Various Shifts: Days, Evenings, Weekends
Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba

Responsible to the Manager of Health & Fitness
Position Summary
The Wellness Institute is recruiting a Certified Lifeguard & Children’s Program Instructor on a part time contractual basis to teach, lead and monitor pool safety for children’s programming. The incumbent is responsible to facilitate children’s programming and provide continual monitoring and assessment of participant safety needs within the pool environment.
Job Duties include:
· Plan and implement safe and age-appropriate activities for children’s programs.
· Provide support and encouragement to each child.
· Adapt activities so that they are accessible for all ability levels.
· Lifeguard, safeguard and implement emergency action plan if required.
· Understand and enforce facility rules and regulations.
· Provides feedback to the Children’s Program Coordinator, and make suggestions for improvements in quality of programming.
· Provide quality customer service to facility patrons
· Creates a warm and friendly environment.
· Greets parents and children upon arrival.
· Follows all SOGH/WI Policies and Procedures.
Certifications Required
· Current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) certification (required)
· Current CPR and Standard First Aid certification (required)
· Asset: LSI (Lifesaving Instructor)

· Communication skills
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Ability to react and respond in emergency situations
· Ability to handle stress of emergency situation

Education and Experience:
· Minimum age requirement is 16 years of age
