Job Description
Linux systems administrators play a pivotal role in the strength of an organization’s IT infrastructure. They are involved in installation, configuration, updating, monitoring, and resolving any issues with the system.
Engineer will be responsible for maintaining IT operational infrastructure and providing the following services to the organization:
Servers, Graphic workstations, VM servers, central storage systems administration (Linux and Virtualization platforms), Data Backup and Restore administration, Server Security administration and operational and infrastructure components of business continuity.
Many related activities like Capacity Planning, Performance Analysis, Software Distribution, Availability Monitoring, monitor and build basic SNMP tools for alerts and reporting.
Essential Skills:
• System administration experience in Linux CentOS, Rockuy and Redhat system and hardware configurations
• Install and maintain up- to-date Operational System software, patch levels, firmware, drivers, and related program products
• Configure and customize OS, Applications and other software in accordance company requirements
• Suggest and promote System Changes in accordance with documented SOPs (Standard Operational Procedures)
• Provide continuous monitoring, troubleshooting and maintenance of the various application servers, systems and associated peripherals, including adequate follow up on Problem Resolution tracking using the Remedy tool (3rd party tracking monitoring tools)
• Engage in system capacity planning and monitoring and generate health and usage reports of systems
• Participate in weekly review calls and add value to the overall performance benefit of the organization
• Interact with software and hardware maintenance vendors and other internal team in enforcing adequate levels of support to installed hardware and software
• Performing account management, disk space management, backups, baseline security administration, testing of system features, and other systems administration activities
• Produce and maintain appropriate documentation and charts describing hardware setups, diagrams, operational procedures, and overall inventory
• Maintain good documentation for review and course corrections
• Follow internal audit procedures for better security audits
• Remote monitoring for multi-location support.
• If necessary ready to travel to our branch office for onsite support
• Test new OS and applications for stability before deployment to the production floor.
• Manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of all essential systems
• Manage and optimize VM machines
• Create bash shell scripts to aid in system stability and deployment repeatability
• Provide detailed analysis and feedback to management and internal customers for escalated tickets
Desirable Skills:
• Bachelor's Degree (BTech / BE Preferred).
• RedHat Certifications is preferred.
• Experience with firewall, switch, and wireless equipment.
• Experience performing intermediate-level Linux administration tasks, to include patching, software installation and troubleshooting.
• Linux scripting languages (Shell, Perl, Python)
