Role Summary:
The Local Delivery Driver plays a critical role in ensuring timely delivery to dedicated accounts. This position offers the opportunity to be home daily and earn Safety Bonuses. Responsibilities include navigating city streets, handling pallet deliveries, and performing drop and hook freight operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver on-time to dedicated accounts.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections for each load.
Maintain accurate daily E-Log records.
Operate company-owned tractor-trailer trucks to transport freight safely.
Perform required user maintenance and provide necessary reports.
Deliver outstanding customer service during pickups and deliveries.
Adhere to all certifications required by DOT, OSHA, and company safety programs.
Safeguard company property entrusted to you.
Report any accidents immediately.
Communicate delays promptly to your Dispatcher or Manager.
Engage in tasks that enhance overall team operations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Class A CDL.
Proven safe driving record (MVR, CSA, and previous employment).
Capacity to pass DOT pre-employment drug screening and meet DOT medical qualifications.
Stable work history is preferred.
Current DOT physical examination.
Minimum of 1 year of Class-A driving experience or equivalent military service.
Must be at least 23 years of age.
Thorough understanding of traffic laws and defensive driving practices.
Adept at driving various vehicle types safely.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to effective communication.
Able to work independently and make sound judgments impacting the organization.
Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under changing weather conditions.
Physical Demands:
Extended periods of sitting while driving.
Frequent manual dexterity required in operating controls and equipment.
Occasional lifting and securing of cargo exceeding 50 pounds.
Continuous focus on safe driving and navigation.
Potential for irregular hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight trips.
Work conditions may involve exposure to various weather environments during loading/unloading.
Climbing in and out of truck cabs and trailers, balancing while securing cargo.
Compliance with health and safety regulations, including use of personal protective gear as necessary.
