What You’ll Do as a Low Voltage Electronic Systems Technician
Your day‑to‑day work will be diverse, hands‑on, and technically engaging. You’ll collaborate with experienced project managers to install and service advanced commercial electronic systems from the ground up — following plans, blueprints, and industry codes.
Typical tasks include:
Running and organizing structured cabling
Mounting & wiring control panels, video cameras, access control devices
Testing, troubleshooting, and performing quality assurance
Providing Systems Training to customers
Tracking assets, materials, and work notes via mobile app

Requirements
Position Summary
The Low Voltage Technician is responsible for installing and servicing security systems including burglar alarms, card access, video surveillance, IP networks and Wi-Fi, and cabling by following blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans.
The Low Voltage Technician works in accordance with relevant codes and follows company standards.
Essential Functions and Duties
Installation of the following types of electronic systems:
o Burglar Alarms
o Card Access
o Video Surveillance
o Audio/Video
o IP Networks and Wi-Fi
o Cabling for above systems
Mount and fasten control panels, door and window contacts, sensors, video cameras or access control and attach electrical wiring to connect components.
Demonstrate systems for customers and provide training.
Test and repair circuits and sensors, following wiring and system specifications.
Feed cables through access holes, roof spaces, or cavity walls to reach fixture outlets, positioning and terminating cables, wires, or strapping.
Examine systems to locate problems, such as loose connections or broken insulation.
Test backup batteries, keypad programming, sirens, or other security features to ensure proper functioning or to diagnose malfunctions.
Drill holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings, or floors.
Inspect installation sites and study work orders, building plans, and installation manuals to determine materials requirements and installation procedures.
Keep informed of new products and developments.
Track customer assets, daily work notes, and material used on mobile app.

Education and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent
1+ years of experience in security or low voltage industry
Become and remain proficient in all computer programs necessary to perform the everyday duties of this position including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and internet
Work Environment
Indoor and outdoor jobsites with fluctuating temperatures
