Today, more than 6,000 children are part of the Whānau Manaaki kindergarten family, with an additional 150 children enrolled in our Etu Ao home-based programme. Together, we're building strong foundations for lifelong learning and wellbeing.
Community Description
We are looking for an experienced ECE teacher to join our team. Lyall Bay is a full year Kindergarten, running sessions Mon-Fri 8.30-2.30 5 days a week. We are licensed for 40 children who attend for 6 hours each day. The successful applicant will join our team of 4 other teachers and an administrator.
We believe the kindergarten should be an extension of home. We provide a learning environment where children and their whānau experience warm and friendly relationships and feel a strong sense of belonging at kindergarten and in the community.
We are a diverse kindergarten and our relationships with families give us wonderful opportunities to celebrate different cultures. This sharing of knowledge between parents, whānau and teachers gives children the chance to make connections with our local community and to see how others view the world around them.
Our programme builds on individual aspirations and interests. Children are supported in accessing all areas of the curriculum so that they can actively find answers to their questions and learn through creativity and active exploration.
We feed several primary schools in the area, including in Lyall Bay, Kilbirnie, Rongotai and Melrose. The kindergarten has a large outdoor area and is close to the beach.
This is a fulltime role worked Monday to Friday - 40 hours per week

is excited to work within a strongly collaborative well-established team.
can intentionally teach responsively to the interests of tamariki, empowering them to lead their own learning and make decisions about their own play within their peer groups.
who understands the importance of allowing tamariki the opportunity to engage in safe risk as they challenge themselves physically and creatively through large scale loose parts play outside.
who can confidently contribute to the ongoing development of our bicultural curriculum.
who has understanding and knowledge around teaching neuro diverse, ESL, and mixed age groups. Is flexible, fun and shows initiative.
