System Database Administrator
This role is responsible for managing mainframe database maintenance and upgrades using SMPE. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of DB2 systems programming, including knowledge of BSDS, Log copies, ZPARMS, Buffer-pool Managements, Storage, Thread, Locks, ZFS file systems. Experience with DB2 subsystem setup in Sysplex distributor DDF, RRSAF, Data Sharing Group concepts and Cross Coupling Facility is also essential.
The successful candidate will be skilled in handling DB2 Maintenance and upgrade through SMPE, as well as knowledge of various DB2 Utilities both online and offline like IDCAMS, COPY, RECOVER, CHECK DATA, REORG, RUNSTATS, REBUILD, LOAD/UNLOAD, DSNJU003, DSJU004 etc. Additionally, hands-on experience on DB2 tools such as DB2 Admin Tool, Log Analysis Tool, Object Comparison Tool, Query Monitor Tool, Automation Tool HPU, IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON XE for DB2 Performance Expert on z OS is required.
The role involves working with vendors on problem resolution, gathering accurate and sufficient documentation, and understanding the issue thoroughly enough to ensure the vendor is on target and handling the problem with appropriate priority. The ability to understand, write, tune and understand the performance implications of DB2 SQL, application environments & stored procedures is also necessary.
