Position Overview
Keep the magic running behind the scenes.
As a Maintenance Assistant at QT Wellington, you’ll support the Maintenance Manager in ensuring the hotel is safe, functional and presented to the highest standard at all times. This is a hands-on role suited to someone practical, reliable and proactive, who takes pride in keeping things in top shape.
This is a full-time role working Wednesday to Sunday, 9:30am – 6:00pm, supporting day-to-day maintenance across guest rooms, public areas and back-of-house spaces.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out general maintenance and repair tasks across the hotel
Assist with preventative maintenance programs to ensure all areas remain in excellent condition
Complete minor repairs including painting, patching and basic gib/plaster work
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and departments
Support the upkeep of hotel fixtures, fittings and equipment
Identify and report any faults, hazards or maintenance issues
Maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment
Work closely with Housekeeping and Front Office to minimise disruption to guests
What You’ll Bring
Previous experience in a maintenance or handyman role, ideally within hospitality or a similar environment
Practical skills across general repairs and maintenance
Experience in painting and minor gib repairs (highly advantageous)
Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively
Good communication skills and a team-focused attitude
Understanding of health and safety practices
