About the role


We are seeking a Manager Asset Planning and Reliability to lead the integration and implementation of asset planning systems and reliability engineering across Rio Tinto Aluminium’s Pacific Operations.


This role is ideal for a thoughtful, people‑centered leader who is passionate about disciplined pursuit of best practice asset performance and building capable and engaged teams. You will work closely with site‑based and central stakeholders, creating strong partnerships to enable safe, reliable and sustainable asset performance.


Reporting to the Manager Engineering and Asset Management, you will be accountable for implementing Rio Tinto’s Asset Management strategy while supporting leaders and teams through change, capability uplift and continuous improvement.


What you’ll be doing


In this role, you will:

Be a valued member of the Bauxite and Alumina team contributing to strategic direction for Asset Management
Manage the delivery of new HME fleet to support bauxite mining operations
Work collaboratively with the Pacific Operations sites to implement the Rio Tinto Asset Management including the foundational systems and processes such as:
Work and shutdown management
Defect elimination and equipment failure investigations
Asset management continuous improvement
Asset master data and maintenance systems
Capability development, training and knowledge sharing
Build strong, trusting relationships with leaders and stakeholders, providing coaching and guidance to help develop a high‑performance, inclusive culture

What you’ll bring


We are looking for someone who brings:

A strong commitment to health, safety and wellbeing, for yourself and others
A degree in engineering or a related discipline would be welcomed but not essential
Relevant professional experience in leading Asset Management related disciplines
A genuine interest in asset management, engineering and continuous improvement, with experience leading change through people, systems and collaboration
Experience leading operational or technical teams in an asset‑intensive environment
Experience working with geographically dispersed teams is welcomed but not essential
Well‑developed analytical and problem‑solving skills, with an appreciation for data‑informed decision making
The ability to work effectively in a matrix environment, partnering with leaders across functions to deliver shared outcomes
