About the Role
As Manager, Business Governance and Control, you will ensure effective non-financial risk management and alignment with ANZ’s I.AM Framework for ANZ India branches (Mumbai + GIFT). It works closely with Risk Owners/Country Head, CTOO, CFO, Operations Leaders and Product and Relationship teams to achieve a high standard of governance and oversight across their operational and compliance requirements – balanced with a commercial appreciation for the objectives of the ANZ India business (Mumbai + GIFT branch). It partners with 2nd line Risk to collaboratively identify and execute opportunities for continuous improvement in operational risk management to reduce and prevent non-lending losses and compliance breaches. It collaborates with ANZ Group Capability Centre support teams to ensure the full suite of services in the Institutional BG&C Service Catalogue are provided to ANZ India branches (Mumbai + GIFT).
You will also lead the implementation of ANZ Group risk initiatives and framework changes – embedding, managing and strengthening a mature risk management ecosystem. It serves as a senior member of the International BG&C community, coaching and advising junior country BG&C leads as needed

What will your day look like?
Executing core assurance functions under ANZ’s I.AM Framework Control Officer role including risk profiling, control testing, KRI monitoring, event and treatment management, audit item remediation tracking
Performing risk assessments and facilitating acceptance by relevant senior stakeholders or business remediation as required
Preparation and participation of Risk Management Committee / Forums, reporting and advising on performance of key risk metrics
Delivery of the Country Risk Attestations (CPS220/CPS234)
Identifying trends and emerging risks relevant to business context and advising country leadership team on strategic improvements in Risk and Control environment
Managing business continuity assurance in line with ANZ framework requirements
Driving non-financial risk awareness, education and training promoting operational risk management as a core capability for all within an active, mature Risk Culture
Partnering with ANZ India business (Mumbai + GIFT branch) to support them in executing their risk management accountabilities (i.e., change management, audit item remediation, event responses, control implementation) and pursue cost effective, innovative and competitive strategies to manage risk which contribute to improving business performance
Operational risk review and advisory in local policy, procedure, product and projects.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
University degree, extensive years of experience in Risk Management teams of banking and financial services sector
People management and Operational Risk management experience
Exposure to and thorough understanding of bank’s Risk and Compliance management
Understanding of ANZ’s Institutional Business structure and function
Familiarity with the ANZ’s I.AM Amplified transformation in progress
Experience designing and implementing business process improvements
Knowledge of India banking practices, legislation, statutory and regulatory requirements.
Exposure to 1st and 2nd line of defence function
Experience managing complex senior stakeholder and country Leadership Team relationships including influencing & negotiation skills
Ability to manage competing priorities and conflicting issues in a professional manner
Ability to manage conflicts and/or escalations in a productive manner which encourages active Operational Risk Management to ensure a well-managed business
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Experience in challenging the status quo to ensure that business solutions have considered and implemented a well-managed approach to risk mitigation while operating within risk appetite
Able to use initiative, take action and be persistent in addressing issues
