Position Summary: Reporting to the Director, Integrated Clinical and Corporate Applications, the Integrated Manager, Clinical Application Support and IT Business Operations is responsible for the leadership and mentorship of a team of 20+ IT Health Informatics staff providing support to Waterloo Regional Health Network users across all sites. This position works collaboratively with other IT leaders to develop and implement an integrated IT strategic plan (which is aligned to WRHN strategic plans) with stakeholders across the organization. Fiscal responsibilities include the management of the IT budget (operating and capital) and oversight of IT contracts and billing.

The Manager, Clinical Application Support and IT Business Operations, will lead and be responsible for the overall build of clinical systems. The role is one that bridges technology, clinical workflows and practice in the build and deployment of the relevant systems for all end users across the organization. The role requires excellent knowledge of technology and the interface to clinical practice to optimize patient care, ensuring that the system is clinically relevant and usable. The manager will work with the relevant leadership groups to facilitate change management and adoption of the system.

The manager is responsible for planning, managing and directing the clinical applications team including providing leadership for strategic planning, project execution and completion, change management, operational support.

Responsibilities at a Glance:

· Provide leadership to a team of 20+ non-unionized IT professionals ranging from junior to senior level analysts.

· Recruitment and retention of team members.

· Change management through effective use of ITIL and LEAN methodologies.

· Application of best practices, change and project management principles to achieve adoption and success of IT strategies and system implementations.

· Provides leadership to ensure that the HIS and its different applications support clinical practice, as well as safe and effective patient care

· Plans and manages the build and deployment of clinical applications.

· Responsibility/oversight for the effective management of the IT operating budget

· Participation in the renegotiation of contracts to ensure a high level of service at a fiscally responsible cost.

· Initiation and participation in RFP / RFQ procurement processes to for applications and services

· Responsible for the effective management of physical and human resources to minimize waste and improve efficiency by ensuring alignment with industry best practices.

· Provide leadership to ensure outcomes of IT service and projects are achieved on time, on budget and within scope.

Position Requirements:

· Bachelor’s Degree required in Clinical discipline, Healthcare Informatics or equivalent combination of education and experience

· Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience preferably in a hospital or other clinical setting.

· Minimum 5 years of experience in Information Technology with a focus on clinical applications.

· Project Management Skills (PMP certification preferred)

· Experience/education in IT contracts and budgets

Experience leading and managing change while ensuring alignment with industry best practices.
Experience managing high value projects and initiatives across hospital systems.
Proven ability to build teams that foster trust and respect.
Effective presentation, analytical and report writing skills.
ITIL, LEAN or similar certifications or experience.
Completion of Leadership training.
Related experience in a hospital environment
