About the Role
We are seeking a Manager of Communications who will be responsible for creating, implementing and overseeing communications programs, be it internal or external, which effectively describe and promote the agency and our services. The incumbent will be responsible for managing media and public relations activities and for promoting positive public understanding and support for the agency. As part of the Development and Communications Team, this position will work together with internal and external stakeholders on projects and activities related to communications, fundraising, partnership building, and strategic plan initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement strategic communication plans to align with organizational goals and enhance brand messaging.
Lead internal communication efforts to foster staff engagement, transparency, and alignment with the agency’s mission and values.
Oversee external communications, including media relations, press releases, and community outreach, to raise awareness of agency initiatives.
Support leadership in crafting compelling narratives and targeted messaging for campaigns, events, and crisis management
Conduct recruitment, performance evaluation, coaching, and discipline, according to Human Resources policies.
Represent the agency in sector committees and advocacy initiatives, strengthening partnerships and public relations.
Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Will Bring:
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
5 plus years of progressive experience in strategic communications, preferably in a social services or non-profit environment.
Strong knowledge of the Jewish community is required.
Strong leadership abilities and experience managing staff and/or vendors.
Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information into clear, compelling messages.
Experience with media relations, crisis communications, and reputation management.
Proficiency in digital communication tools, including social media management and content creation platforms.
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize deadlines effectively.
Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including internal teams, donors, media, and policymakers.
Excellent writing, storytelling, and editing skills.
Superior verbal and written communications skills
High level of database skills and computer literacy
Strong research skills
Ability to handle a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment
Must be a team player with proven ability to work well with diverse groups of people including staff and volunteers
Comprehension of French or another language will be considered an asset
