Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manager, Control Testing to join our team. You will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and executing our control testing strategy across all divisions. This role requires a blend of technical expertise in risk management and strong leadership capabilities to drive a culture of continuous improvement and effective risk management. You will be part of a broader leadership team for Insurance Australia’s Risk Support within Line 1.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Culture: Role model Auto & General's values, drive high performance within your team of control testing specialists, and foster a strong risk culture through training and awareness programs across the organisation. This responsibility includes driving execution excellence to ensure the entire control testing program is delivered successfully and on schedule by the team.
Control Test Planning & Execution: Develop cross-divisional testing schedules aligned to RCSA and lead your team’s execution of test plans with relevant stakeholders.
Reporting & Analysis: Guide your team to deliver clear and concise reports on test results to Line 1 and Line 2 leadership, highlighting areas for improvement and recommending remediation actions. Provide insightful analysis of the control environment's health.
Advisory: Provide expert advice and support on control design aligned to our risk appetite. Also manage a sustainable approach to lifting capability in your team and broader Line 1 knowledge of control design and testing.
Monitoring & Compliance: Monitor the health of the control environment based on incident and issue themes, and ensure all control activities align seamlessly with our overarching Risk Management Framework (RMF) and regulatory requirements.
What experience you’ll bring:
Experience: Typically 5+ years of progressive experience in risk management, internal audit, control testing, or assurance roles, specifically within complex financial services or insurance environments. This must include at least 3 years in a leadership or management capacity.
Education: A relevant Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Industry certifications (e.g., in risk management, audit, or compliance) are highly desirable.
Technical Expertise: A strong understanding and practical application of Risk Control Self-Assessments (RCSA), and the Three Lines of Defence (3LoD) model.
Skills: Proficient in using risk management systems and various data analysis tools to assess complex control environments and identify weaknesses, or familiar with doing process design and analysis.
Leadership: Proven ability to influence senior management, motivate and develop team members, and effectively communicate complex matters to senior stakeholders and divisional leadership teams.
