We are looking for a Manager - Database Support & Management for leading a fast paced team of Database Administrators who work on Support and management of some of the most critical DB Infrastructure at Apple. The team works on critical databases across multiple DB technologies including Oracle, MongoDB, MySQL, Vertica and SQL Server deployed across BareMetal and Cloud Installations. You will be directly responsible for Operational delivery and excellence by this team. You will closely work with multi-functional Engineering teams, build robust relationships and effectively partner with them.
Key Qualifications
• 12 - 15 Years of experience in technical support, engineering or operations environment with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Management of Database team.
• 5-7 years of hands on experience in regular DBA Support and maintenance tasks and activities including monitoring, troubleshooting, Database Changes, Upgrades, Patch Management, User Management, Backup and Recovery, etc.
• Good understanding of various infrastructure components including Systems, Storage, Load balancer & Network
• Good experience in dealing with Database Infrastructure on on-premises and Cloud Installations.
• Experience in managing teams in fast paced and high stress environments.
• Collaboration across multi-functional teams with customer centric focus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Description
As Manager, Database Support and Management, you will help run DBA Team that supports critical DB Infrastructure within Data Services at Apple. Responsibilities include:
- Focus on Operational Excellence. Consistent track record of Service Delivery, Process Improvement and Innovation.
- Manage on-call team in India, during multiple shifts per day
- Strong understanding of Database administration lifecycle and implementing industry-wide standard methodologies/processes including SLA, metrics and monitoring
- Business Accountability. Take ownership for fast-paced, complex and distributed database environments supporting systems across multiple platforms.
- Guiding the team in fixing complex technical problems under pressure, implement solutions that are massively scalable, while leading multiple customer groups.
- People Management and Development. Build and drive a strong DBA team to support a high performance and highly available database infrastructure. Identify individual improvement and growth plan for team members.
- Team Effectiveness. Identify avenues for productivity improvement and implement smart solutions for better effectiveness of the team. Encourage automation solutions for mundane and recurring database tasks.
- Multi-functional collaboration. Work with other Engineering teams and managers to define the best solutions and approaches for your team.
- Resource Management. Attract, hire, develop and retain the best talent for Apple.
