About the role

The Manager, Event Investment - Sport plays a key role in shaping New South Wales’ reputation as the events capital of the Asia Pacific. Reporting to the Associate Director, this role focuses on delivering strategic event investment and development opportunities to build a diverse and sustainable calendar of sport events. You will drive initiatives aligned with the Major Events Strategy, identifying and evaluating event proposals, fostering partnerships, and ensuring contractual benefits are fully leveraged to maximise economic and social benefits for NSW. This role is pivotal in engaging stakeholders, negotiating funding agreements, and delivering innovative marketing and promotional activities that enhance visitor spend, length of stay, and the overall impact of sport events across the state.

About You

You are an innovative and strategic professional with a strong background in event acquisition, investment, and development. You excel in applying research and analytical skills to identify and evaluate unique, long-term event opportunities that deliver economic, social, and strategic benefits. You have experience in leveraging investments and maximising impact.

You possess exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills, allowing you to build strategic partnerships and navigate complex industry challenges effectively. Your ability to manage projects, contracts, and business reporting ensures seamless execution of initiatives aligned with organisational goals. Public sector experience and knowledge of government roles in event acquisition are highly regarded. You are comfortable working flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel as needed. This role may require working out of hours and may involve evening or weekend work, including travel. Tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience in the events industry, particularly in event marketing, will support your success in this role.
