This is an exciting opening to work with our Director, Group Financial Reporting. Responsible for delivering quarterly consolidated results and bi-annual consolidated financial statements for a FTSE 100 hospitality company with a presence in over 100 countries.

Candidates will need to have a good working knowledge of IFRS as applied in a global organisation. Adherence to reporting deadlines is essential as is the ability to produce value-added commentaries and supporting documents for senior executives as required.

Between quarterly reporting responsibilities, you will be involved in the maintenance of the financial reporting consolidation system (Oracle FCCS) and therefore an appetite and aptitude for working with consolidation systems is required.

This role also ensures the Group’s accounting policies and Sarbanes-Oxley processes and controls are adhered to. Close working relationships will be established with regional financial reporting teams, Information Delivery, Group Tax, Group Treasury, Company Secretariat and Investor Relations whilst liaising with external auditors on a regular basis.

Your day to day
• To play a key role in the preparation of IHG’s quarterly financial statements and bi-annual externally published results in accordance with agreed deadlines, including the provision of value-added commentaries and supporting schedules as required.
• Preparation of notes to the annual financial statements under IFRS, improving and maintaining the master file retrieving all financial statement notes from consolidation system which performs cross checks and validations.
• Review and understand quarterly submissions from regional financial reporting teams through enquiry and challenge of unusual and unexpected items.
• Contribute to initiatives to continuously improve the quality and timeliness of the consolidated financial information.
• Contribute to upkeep and improvement of the consolidation system (Oracle FCCS) designing appropriate accounts, rules, validations, and reports to reflect additional required disclosures or changes to accounting standards.
• Document design, mapping, and roles of new FCCS system in a user manual and provide system training to new starters.
• Assist the Director, Financial Reporting in evaluating, implementing, and maintaining new process solutions.
• Maintain a detailed and up to date knowledge of all matters related to IFRS and other relevant regulatory accounting requirements.
• To develop and maintain strong working relationships with regional Financial Reporting Directors and Managers and to ensure that key regional issues are resolved at the appropriate level.
• Respond to information requests from across Global Finance.

What We Need From You

Whilst we love experience, mindset is of equal importance. We’re looking for someone who is committed with a natural ability to operate effectively in a fast moving, global environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with one of the BIG Four accounting firms.
• 2+ years financial reporting experience in a complex organization using Oracle or equivalent consolidation system (FCCS, HFM, SAP etc) and Microsoft Office products.
• Strong technical knowledge of financial reporting under IFRS.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail.
• Advocate of strong internal control environment.

Qualifications
• ACA or equivalent accounting qualification essential.
• Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required.
