Global Analytics Center (GAC):

A mature analytics capability, the Global Analytics Center (GAC), is a hub of advanced analytics competency, providing high-end analytics services across global businesses and global functions. Set-up in India in 2004, GAC has matured into a shared Centre of Excellence comprising 2000+ professionals with offices in Bangalore, Kolkata, Guangzhou and Krakow. The work done in GAC forms a vital input towards strategic planning by the senior management for businesses and enables effective decision making along with addressing unforeseen challenges.

Today, the GAC team generates value across the group through a wide variety of data and analytic solutions and related business consulting. GAC has become a one-stop shop for the group's analytic needs leading the integration of analytics and data-driven decisions not only in traditional areas such as Risk , Retail, Wholesale, Private & Commercial Banking but also in new domains such as Regulatory, Operations, Procurement, Human Resources, and Financial Crime Risk. It provides support to various business groups and the job involves data analysis, model and strategy development & implementation, Business Intelligence, reporting and data management.

There are primarily four job families in GAC: Decision Sciences, Information Management, Business Consulting and MI Reporting. This role applies to the Information Management job family within the Analytics function supporting various businesses and functions.

Global Business/Global Function (DAO):

DAO(Data & Architecture Office) services to Regions and Lines of Business. This work provides the foundation of well-designed and organized data used for the BI/Reporting & Visualization purpose that is at the heart of efficient and accurate service to our customers and regulators, as well as the basis for insightful and effective data analytics & visualization with the benefits that they can bring to many aspects of the Bank's performance.

Global Business/Global Function - Sub-Function: ESG DAO & BI

ESG DAO & BI function is to deliver ESG & BI Analytics requirements to cater to the visualization analytics needs by taking into account of the reporting as well as the dashboard capability needs of the various GB/GFs across HSBC. This work provides the foundation of well-designed visualization platforms which helps in making strategic decisions for the bank. Along with this, efficient ways of data modeling are at the heart of accurate BI function and service to our customers and regulators. The insightful BI and effective data analytics will help reap the benefits that they can bring to many aspects of the Bank's performance.

Job Family Classification and Description -

Information Management job family is designed to cater towards all the data needs of business. It covers sourcing of data and building structured data lakes, designing data marts generating Business Insights and hosting data in Cloud. Key responsibilities also include but not limited to: creation of a robust data foundation and continuous update of these datasets, to support Analysis and reporting, identify opportunities for data monetization, leverage BI and Visualization tools to deliver key business insights and develop self-serve BI solutions to empower the business to make informed decisions. The team members embed agile delivery methodologies to continuously keep refining the data models using new and emerging techniques. This team also acts as a bridge between IT and the business stakeholders
• The role holder needs to demonstrate strong sense of ownership and accountability on projects through strong project management skills and regular communication with internal project managers and business stakeholders
• Working as an individual contributor, provide good recommendation / insights and enhance quality of output through tying the analysis back to Business trends, product knowledge and market dynamics
• Expertise in technical skills (BI tools like Qlik/ Tableau and Data management tools like SAS, SQL, VBA, Unix, Qlik, R, Python etc.)
• Drives the optimization initiatives for existing processes.
• Understand personal training needs and take initiative to follow through personal development plan in conjunction with line manager

The job accountabilities of this role are:

Customer/Stakeholder
• Work with multiple customers and stakeholders on projects Develop strong understanding of business domain, its strategic direction, functional goals, and the required technical expertise Drive innovation for self and the team to deliver incremental business value. Service Delivery
• Ability to convert business needs into technical/functional requirements and analysis/ MI Reports Provide flawless execution by the team through effective project management and incorporating necessary quality checks that has been signed off by senior /manager; Demonstrate acceptable standards of productivity. Contribute towards the quantifiable process improvement goals of the team Support the build of insights and data assets aligned to business outcomes and strategic data models
• Support the gathering of detailed data requirements from stakeholders to deliver analytics use cases ( triggers)
• Support the delivery of analytics PoCs that allow our businesses and clients to identify new opportunities
• Support the leveraging of current and emerging data and analytical techniques to address business challenges in an actionable way
• Support the unlocking of opportunities to derive higher returns with improved Data Quality
• Support the uncovering of data inconsistencies across consuming systems

Leadership and Team Work

• Process Efficiency and Controls Oversee the development of cost-effective code for assigned projects. Manages the automation of repetitive programming steps to reduce the need for manual intervention. Take charge in the maintenance of generated programs, queries and profiles to make certain organizational information resources are leveraged efficiently. Sets up QA/QC framework and ensures adherence and constant improvements. Understands policies/standards and assists leadership team to translate and implements the same into operational governance framework for the team.

What you will need to succeed in the role:

Skills/Experience Required:

Eligibility Criteria -
• Atleast 4 years of experience with Master's degree or equivalent from reputed university with specialization in numerical discipline and concentration in computer science, information systems or other engineering specializations.
• Strong analytical skills with business analysis aptitude. Knowledge and understanding of financial-services/ banking-operations is advantageous.
• Good knowledge of programming tools, preferably with proficiency in any one or combination of Visualization tools such QlikSense/Tableau and data management tools such as SAS, SQL, VBA, Unix, Qlik, R, Python etc.
• Knowledge of Cloud Computing (AWS, GCP), Data Modeling, Adobe Analytics and or exposure to Data Quality assessment and control (IBM MDM, Reference Data Management) is a plus
• Ability to comprehend intricate and diverse range of business problems and analyse them with limited or complex data and provide a feasible solution framework. Experience on working on Data/Information Management projects of varyingcomplexities.

Functional requirements –
• Ability to parse, manipulate and review large quantities of complex data
• Financial services industry background in data analytics
• Experience of diagnostic and predictive techniques in areas such as Trade and Transaction Reporting, Modelling, Risk Scoring, Financial Crime Analytics, Risk and Compliance, Customer Marketing analytics client segmentation
• Knowledge of databases such as MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases
• Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, R, or Spark
• Desirable experience in designing user-friendly, insightful, interactive dashboards using Qlik, Tableau or Power BI
• Programme Execution and Change management – proven ability to shape, design and lead the execution of data changes

Desirable experience as a Management Consultant and or experience within the Financial Services industry executing and managing data analysts within transformation programmes.

Soft Skills requirements –
• Good communication skills in both written and spoken. Ability to develop and effectively communicate complex concepts and ideas. Experience in managing a team with multiple stakeholder is preferred.
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams. Strong interpersonal skills and drive for success.
• Independent worker with high drive and can support Global teams with demanding work
