The role
Our Corporate Communications team set the strategic direction for the Group, playing a key role in protecting brand and reputation through proactive promotion of the great work we do.
As a Manager Media, your remit will be to provide this strategic direction and leadership, ensuring a coordinated, integrated and managed approach to the relationships and communication between media and the Department. You will lead and manage the process to anticipate, prepare and implement media responses, liaise with internal stakeholders, ministerial and departmental media staff to develop and implement media strategies and plans, develop media polices, strategies and protocols, and ensure a collaborative approach to department wide integrated media services.
You will also utilise your leadership skills to lead and manage the day-to-day activities of the media team and coach and mentor them to ensure appropriate skills and expertise are available.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department for the next 24 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a permanent appointment, applicants must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia at the time of application. Applicants with a valid visa to work and live in Australia for a specific duration may be assessed and considered suitable for similar fixed term vacancies that arise.
Should a qualification be required for this position, applicants must provide their certification and/or academic transcripts to verify relevance to the job requirements. Qualifications obtained outside of Australia must be provided with an assessment from the Overseas Qualifications Unit to ensure they meet Australian Standards (this is a free service).
To work for LGIRS, you must consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a clearance before you start. If deemed suitable, LGIRS will coordinate and pay for your NCCHC as part of your pre-employment checks.

Demonstrated strong leadership skills including experience leading individuals and groups to achieve common goals, and managing competing priorities in a deadline driven, rapid turnaround editorial and high-pressured environment.
Demonstrated experience managing and delivering media, public affairs or communications with a proven record of achievement providing advice, developing, implementing and evaluating media strategies, media relations, media events and issues management to support strategic objectives.
Demonstrated highly developed written, oral, presentation and editing skills and experience; including the ability to communicate complex matters and generate accurate, well written and engaging content for specific audiences and purposes across a variety of communication channels.
