About the role:

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and passionate Physiotherapy leader to join a cohesive Allied Health leadership team in a dynamic and changing work environment. The Allied Health Manager – Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology is responsible for leadership and management of the Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology Departments to deliver services that are effective, high in quality, responsive to patient needs and focused on patient outcomes.


The successful applicant will lead and manage a service that operates within budget; consists of a cohesive, well- functioning team; is aligned with the operational and strategic goals and vision of the health service; and promotes excellence in health care through teaching and supporting a thriving research and learning agenda. The Allied Health Manager – Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology will work with other service managers and Divisional Directors across Western Health to ensure that Allied Health clinicians and services are a critical value adding component of the multidisciplinary team that supports patient care, quality and clinical governance activities, program and service KPIs and meet the broader organisation’s operational and strategic goals.


As the third pillar of health care delivery, the Allied Health workforce boasts more than 1000 staff members providing efficient health care, discharge planning and care to patients from neonates to geriatrics. We offer a range of evidence-based, client-centred, specialist services across the care continuum from admission within the emergency department through to care within the community. Undoubtedly, Western Health is experiencing a period of rapid growth with our catchment area. Our diverse community consisting of more than one million people with complex care needs ranging from neonates to geriatrics. A projected 50 per cent boost in our workforce is expected in the next five years to cater for the New Footscray Hospital, New Melton Hospital, mental health services and Point Cook Community Care Centre.


Key Responsibilities:

Comprehensive understanding of clinical governance and workforce development with demonstrated interest in developing a skilled, effective, flexible, fit-for-purpose and sustainable Allied Health workforce
A collaborative and team-based approach to workforce support and wellbeing
An ability to function at a strategic level and engage in developing an Allied Health structure that will position the workforce

About You:

Extensive postgraduate Allied Health experience at a senior level in a specialist medical and/or other relevant setting
Commitment to an Allied Health service that promotes an evidence-based, best practice culture, and supports continuous service improvement;
An ability to function at a strategic level and engage in developing an Allied Health structure that will position the workforce
Highly developed organisational and networking skills including ability to work closely and collaboratively with medical and nursing staff
