Manager, Software Development
About the role:
The role is based in the SAS R&D Center at the Pune facility. We are seeking a Software Manager to lead the development, testing, and support of our Energy Forecasting product. You will be responsible for managing the Energy Forecasting team, optimizing resource allocation, leading the team technically, and collaborating with stakeholders to maintain project standards and best practices.
Essential Experience:
At least 12 years of experience in software development
At least 2 years of management/leading experience of software development teams
Experience in architecting technically sophisticated systems
Strong experience in Agile software development cycle
Experience in enforcing best technical practices in software development
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Understanding of manual and automation testing processes and architecture
Understanding of full stack technology
Excellent knowledge of enterprise design patterns
Good understanding of data modelling best practices
Experience in leading/managing teams with energy and optimism
Ability to motivate team members to function collaboratively
Good multitasking skills
Desirable Experience:
Forecasting and/or Energy domain knowledge
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes
Management of development on public cloud providers like Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud
Managing Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI, CD) model

Primary Responsibilities:
Organize, develop, prioritize, and assign resources to deliver high-quality, testable, and scalable software solutions within established timelines, adhering to R&D best practices and processes
Lead development project designs and enforce technical standards to ensure solutions execute correctly across various supported environments
Proactively lead and solicit the involvement of other project stakeholders to ensure implementation satisfies functional requirements and is consistent with established R&D standards
Manage and lead project scoping and scheduling; track progress of individual tasks and alert executive management and stakeholders of concerns meeting schedules, following established R&D standards
Manage product quality standards by ensuring functional, unit, and performance testing is comprehensive and thorough; work closely with development and testing teams to verify test plans
Maintain accountability for the entire life cycle of the code, including support for both internal and external consumers
Ensure the veracity of design and technical documentation to satisfy both internal and external consumers
Contribute to product or project direction through collaboration with Product Management, Marketing, Sales, Customers, and others within SAS
Provide technical leadership as appropriate for projects and to the team through mentoring, training, and managing the activities of the team
Manage all aspects of the department, including teamwork, performance management, feedback, professional growth through collaboration with SAS human resources, SAS education, and executive leadership

Background and Experience:
SAS is seeking a Software Manager with overall experience of 12+ years, minimum 2 years management/leading experience, and development and management experience in Java EE-based enterprise applications. The candidate should have excellent organizing and prioritizing skills, sharp technical skills, and a proven track record of delivery management and people management.
