The office of Pat Conaghan MP is seeking applications for a full-time ongoing Marketing and Media Officer (EOB), based in either the Electorate Office in Port Macquarie or Coffs Harbour, NSW.

This position would suit a highly motivated person with a strong passion for high-quality content creation and community engagement.

The successful applicant will support the Parliamentarian with marketing and media matters relating to the Cowper electorate and Federal Election as well as producing engaging digital and print communications and content.

The key duties of the position are, but are not limited to:

Creation and implementation of the annual marketing plan and tactical campaigns

Management of the Communications Budget

Identify and maximise opportunities for electorate engagement

Drive the electoral media agenda – including responding to all media requests and creation of media releases and events throughout the electorate

Develop and manage social media content – including photography and video creation

Website management

Preparation of regular newsletters and emails

Media monitoring – local and national

Research and provide talking points for the Parliamentarian as required

Other duties as directed

The ideal applicant should possess the following skills, qualifications, and experience:

Strong oral and written communication skills

Strong copy writing and publishing skills

Ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders

Understanding of the media landscape and ability to liaise with all media outlets

Photography, videography and digital editing skills

Well-developed understanding of social media platforms as well as traditional paid media channels

Capable of handling multiple projects with competing deadlines

Excellent attention to detail and recordkeeping

Ability to work independently or as part of a team

Preparedness to work overtime as required

Some travel and driving will be necessary – NSW drivers license required

Knowledge of government, Parliamentary processes and contemporary affairs highly regarded

Previous experience in an advertising, marketing, media or communications position in a sensitive or political environment is essential.

Employment conditions:

The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1+84 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2020-23 which include:

A commencing salary between $71,245 and $83,17+ will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills

An additional optional allowance of up to $12,+07 may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work

Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements)

An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable

An initial probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension. The successful applicant may be required to undergo a National Police History Check.
