Job Overview
The Edmonton Dragon Boat Racing Club is looking for a Marketing student (or related field) to fulfill a dual role, which will include 50% of marketing tasks, and 50% of operations support for the club during the busy summer season. The successful individual will play a key role in growing the Club’s presence in Edmonton by promoting the Club’s Mission and events.
Duties
Work closely with the Director of Marketing and manage the Club’s website and social media platforms:
Create and post content on social media and monitor the club’s account
Update the website as necessary
Grow the Club’s presence and influence
Answer general inquiries via phone, email or in person
Communicate to members
Organize, promote, prepare communications materials (using Canva), and participate in club events such as:
Corporate, community or school bookings
Internal events such as boat launch, fall cleanup, and festivals
Open house, club races, and other special events
Ensure smooth day-to-day operation of Edmonton Dragon Boat Racing Club including, but not limited to:
Prepare paddles, PDF, and boats for practice and/or events
Maintain paddling equipment, tools, storage and dock
Provide a safe environment for paddlers through monitoring of weather and waterflow
Respond to any incidents that may arise during regular operating hours
Oversee and assist with the completion of potential projects such as:
Inventory Management
Cleaning and maintenance projects
Skills required
Previous experience creating content and managing web platforms (Canva, Wordpress, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.)
Prior experience in operations of water related sports is an asset
Canadian Boating License is an asset
Strong attention to detail and meticulous
Time management and Organizational skills
To meet the physical demands required of the position, candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions.
Ability to work efficiently and self-motivated
Schedule
Minimum 30 hours a week
Monday - Fridays: 3PM - 9PM depending on program demands
Potential Additional Hours
Monday - Thursday: 1PM - 4PM and weekends as required depending on projects and events
Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract, Seasonal
Contract length: 5 months
Pay: $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30.0 per week
