Overview:
Avalara’s Marketing Content team is primarily tasked with creating marketing materials that aid in the acquisition of new customers and continue the growth and loyalty of its existing customers. The Campaign Content Writer is one of a team of writers in the organization that partners with Audience Managers to define strategy and implement messaging for campaign content. This team takes on the primary responsibility for the written form, including the research, production, and writing of a wide range of assets. Sales tax can be a dry topic, so an engaging and dynamic approach — both in tone and form — is an important success factor. In other words, we want a dynamic content creator who can make tax compliance engaging. The Campaign Content team works closely with a variety of marketing groups, so project management, prioritization, and collaboration are key success factors. We produce a tremendous amount of material from a small team, so we’re looking for someone who is self-directed and can collaborate, research, and write efficiently.
• *Responsibilities**:
- Research, write, and edit informational and other material in support of Avalara marketing campaigns and initiatives, including:
- Long-form content — using internal and external industry experts to develop detailed analysis of sales tax automation and compliance challenges
- Digital content — Banner ads, paid social, and paid search copy for various platforms, including optimization and testing
- Infographic content — develop concepts for data-driven stories
- Content and descriptions for promotional programs and initiatives, advertising copy, and public relations materials
- Web content — create descriptive, engaging content for existing product, service, and integration pages as well as for partner organizations when needed
- Review and improve materials written by internal and third-party resources, ensuring the Avalara brand, voice, and tone are consistent
- Work with internal design team and external designers (contract, freelance, and agencies) to ensure high quality finished products
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years content development experience for an English language audience (content writer, editorial writer, copywriter)
- Portfolio or website with extensive, varied, and relevant long-form and short-form writing samples
- Experience in producing digital content, including SEO optimization
- Strong project management skills, including meeting deadlines through effective prioritization
- Strategic marketing work experience (focus on B2B)
- Bachelor of Arts degree
