Full job description

Primary Job Responsibilities:

You will apply your hands-on laboratory skill to fabricate semiconductor thin films by means of solution-processed roll-to-roll compatible coating technologies based on spin coating and slot-die coating.

Your responsibilities will span from preparation of solutions and inks, through the coating processes and characterization of the results.

You will be a key member of the scientific team, responsible for delivering solutions, inks and films in lock step with the rest of the team.

You will be responsible for following standard operating procedures and quality control processes as applied to your work.

You will work closely with both junior and senior scientists in the development of thin-film photovoltaic technology.

You will create and maintain standard operating procedures and written records to ensure high work reproducibility with high degree of quality and reliability.

Qualifications / Skills:

Experience working in a laboratory with a wide array of organic and inorganic chemistry processes. Experience with thin film coating techniques such as spin, slot die and/or vacuum coating is preferred.

Experience with air and moisture-sensitive inorganic, organic, and organometallic materials. Experience with nanomaterials and perovskites preferred.

Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, demanding environment.

Proven ability to work at high pace in a highly collaborative environment.

Excellent communication skills among colleagues, industry, and suppliers.

Demonstrated attention to detail.

Education and Experience Requirements:

You have at least an associates degree in chemistry or materials or equivalent.

5 year’s work experience in a hands-on laboratory environment.

You must be able to legally work in Canada.

Physical Demands: This position may consist of sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and pulling.

Work Environment: This position will primarily consist of in-office hours due to the nature of the laboratory operations, as well as occasional remote work. Some travel to our subsidiary in Rochester, New York may be necessary.

The workplace physical conditions include potential exposure to electrical high voltage, pressurized gas lines and cylinders, hot work surfaces and ovens, harsh chemical exposure, loud noises, and other typical laboratory hazards.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: Full-Time, Monday through Friday, working 40+ hours per week.

Pay: $55,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
