Job Description
As a Materiel Handler, you will be responsible for providing essential material and supply support to the Land Operations Training Centre, ensuring equipment and resources are accurately managed and readily available to support Army training activities. This role plays a key part in maintaining operational readiness through effective warehousing, inventory control, and material handling practices.
Working within a small, collaborative team, you will manage the receipt, storage, issue, and dispatch of materials while ensuring all records and documentation are completed accurately and in line with NZDF policies and procedures. A strong focus on safety, attention to detail, and continuous improvement is essential in this hands-on role.
Key responsibilities include:
Maintaining accurate inventory records and conducting regular stocktakes.
Preparing, issuing, receiving, and dispatching materials and equipment.
Ensuring equipment is maintained in a serviceable condition.
Processing material requests in line with NZDF policies and procedures.
Completing documentation and administrative tasks to a high standard.

You will bring proven experience in a warehousing or inventory management environment, along with strong organisational skills and a customer-focused approach. You are reliable, self-motivated, and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
You will also be comfortable working with computer-based inventory systems and following established processes, with a willingness to learn and adapt within a structured operational environment.
To be successful, you will have:
3-5 years' experience in warehousing, logistics, or inventory management.
Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
Effective communication and customer service abilities.
Experience using inventory systems (SAP/SRM experience desirable) and MS Office.
A full Class 1 driver licence and the ability to meet physical requirements of the role.

Low Level Security Clearance
You must be a New Zealand citizen or you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.
At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last five (5) years.
You must have a five (5) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
