Mechanic
Location: Royal Waste – Queens or Bronx, NY
Starting Pay: From $32/hr (based on experience)
Employment Type: Full-time
Royal Waste is seeking a well-rounded Mechanic with hands-on experience in diesel repair, welding, hydraulic systems, and diagnostics to join our growing maintenance team in either Queens or the Bronx. This is an in-house position—not a road mechanic role. We’re looking for individuals who prioritize safety, take pride in their work, and understand how critical their role is in keeping our fleet operating at peak performance.
Key Responsibilities
Perform inspections, repairs, and diagnostics on diesel vehicles, including electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems
Interpret vehicle computer system failure codes and make necessary adjustments to engine and vehicle control modules
Review and complete repairs noted on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports
Accurately document services using fleet maintenance software
Conduct post-service test drives to ensure safety and performance
Collaborate with teammates on complex repairs
Maintain professional, courteous communication with drivers and team members
Keep workspaces clean and compliant with OSHA standards
Perform other job-related duties as assigned
What We're Looking For
Minimum 5 years of mechanic experience, preferably with diesel trucks
Well-rounded skill set including mechanical, hydraulic, and welding repairs
Familiarity with diesel vehicle diagnostics and preventative maintenance
Basic tool set required
Valid CDL license (Class B preferred)
Ability to work independently within a shop environment
Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork
