Job Summary and Qualifications
Under the general direction of the Director of Plant Operations, the Maintenance Mechanic performs general maintenance duties in and around the hospital complex. Affects repairs to minor equipment and systems. Performs routine duties necessary to maintain building in good repair. Assists as required on major installations or repairs. Performs corrective maintenance tasks from work orders generated by other departments of the hospital.

Supports the philosophy of Kingwood Medical Center by facilitating cooperation of hospital staff in a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
Consistently provides outstanding service to all patients, physicians, fellow employees, and guests.
Displays initiative to see processes through to completion and offers assistance without being asked.
Maintains awareness of own limitations and seeks guidance from appropriate personnel as needed.
Prioritizes activities of self based on demands for service.
Remains alert to the detection of errors in own work and the work of others with appropriate corrective actions initiated.
Demonstrates an understanding of patient rights, including those pertaining to confidentiality, informed decision-making, and privacy.
Is aware of resources available for ethical concerns and makes appropriate referrals.
Practices cost-efficiently.
Performs technical skills proficiently in accordance with established standards, as evidenced by annual validation processes.
Utilizes specialized knowledge and skill to perform job requirements.
Prepares materials needed in advance for scheduled jobs to prevent the return to the department or supplier for parts or tools.
Consistently demonstrates the ability to adapt to changes in the work load or assignments.
Demonstrates reliability in the conscientious and complete manner in which work assignments are performed.
Maintains work area in a manner conductive to efficiency and safety; cleans and organizes department on own initiative.
Consistently demonstrates competence in the day-to-day scheduling of duties by completing all priority and related tasks on time with little additional assistance required from others.
Demonstrates reliability and makes every attempt to consistently report to work on time at the start of the assigned shift.
When requested, is always willing to adjust personal schedule to complete work load, prepare for an inspection or special project.
Demonstrates the ability to perform duties that vary frequently, according to assignment.
What qualifications you will need:
(BOILER) Boiler Mechanic Permit must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
