About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter / Toolmaker to join our West Croydon Glass Plant. This is a full-time permanent role on a day shift 7am – 3.30pm, working a 9-day fortnight. Working in the Mould Repair Department and reporting to the Mould Repair Manager, you will be responsible for repairing Glass Container moulding equipment to ensure Glass quality.
Key Responsibilities
Preparation of Mould dies & componentry for Job Changeover process.
Cleaning & inspection of used dies
A variety of bench fitting duties to repair the dies such as welding, filing, hand grinding and polishing
Milling and lathe repairs on a few interchangeable parts for glass moulding machinery
You will work with a variety of hand tools, gauges & measuring equipment
Further to this, you may be required to assist in general plant maintenance duties to support the wider Plant Reliability Team
What You’ll Bring
Fitter / machinist trade qualification with milling and lathe experience in an industrial environment, preferably an Engineering or Toolmaking workshop
Previous experience working in an industrial environment, preferably in manufacturing
Meticulous attention to detail and precision
Good hand eye coordination and ability to problem solve
Previous TIG / MIG welding, operating CNC machines, tool making, and stores and goods inwards experience an advantage
