The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician who has knowledge and experience in mechanical operations and maintenance. This individual has the proven competencies and capacity to repair, install, troubleshoot, and perform planned maintenance and corrective tasks on assigned pumping and auxiliary equipment such as pumps and seals, electrical generators, air compressors, valves, pipelines, filters, etc. This position will be responsible to complete a variety of operations and maintenance activities at tank terminals, pumping system, and oil measurement facilities.

The successful candidate will operate and maintain oil pump stations, pipeline, and auxiliary equipment in a manner that meets operational needs, and in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will be based out of either Athabasca or Lac La Biche and will be required to provide support at various locations for various pipeline facilities.

What You Will Do

Perform installation, testing, repair and maintenance on oil pumping facilities, as well as other associated equipment used in oil transmission

Assist in valve maintenance and integrity programs

Conduct routine regular maintenance and checks at oil facilities

Troubleshoot equipment problems utilizing technical reference manuals and documents

Perform technical analysis to prepare recommendations for future action

Provide multi-skilled maintenance support with other technicians in the completion of pipeline and mechanical activities

Provide coaching, mentoring and training to other personnel

Supervise and coordinate third party contractors

Other tasks as required.

Minimum Qualifications

A fully certified Journeyperson mechanic, millwright or equivalent is required

Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience; previous experience with piping, motor operated valves and operations would be an asset

An alternate combination of education and experience may be considered

Additional industry related certification and/or related trades experience

Highly motivated with interpersonal skills to effectively work in a collaborative team environment that includes shared responsibilities, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others, supporting team and company objectives, and a willingness to work in all areas required by the team

Capability to accomplish tasks and assignments safely and responsibly, with a focus on appropriate handling and disposal of hazardous waste

Ability to utilize computers and e-mail for internal and external communication, record keeping, on-line reporting, material and supply ordering, and filing of various forms

Preferred Qualifications

Previous oil / liquid expertise and experience

Previous pump station experience

Able to act and work independently and able to effectively work in a team environment that includes shared responsibilities in support of team and company objectives

Thorough understanding of test equipment used to maintain control systems

Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills when encountering issues and able to use these skills when troubleshooting

Competent using equipment applicable to the maintenance of control and measurement systems

This position requires candidates to:

Have current, valid authorization to travel internationally (including but not limited to Canada and the US)

Successfully complete pre-employment medical screening including drug and ******* testing

Have and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record

Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training (up to 10% of work schedule)

Be part of an on-call rotation and provide emergency support as required
