About the Role
Reporting the Manager, Media and Reputation, the role of the Media Advisor is to enable Melbourne Water’s brand and reputation by driving proactive and positive coverage of Melbourne Water’s services and work via traditional media.
This role will Work closely with the Corporate Communications team to understand Melbourne Water’s brand and reputation uplift program and key priorities to positively promote and build our Melbourne Water’s brand and reputation.
Develop proactive PR and media plans and activity that deliver on the proactive communications strategy and seasonal plans, and build brand recognition and maximize positive sentiment of Melbourne Water services.
Manage media for Ministerial and MP potential ops and events preparing media releases and briefing materials paying careful attention to accuracy and detail and ensure all relevant stakeholders are consulted and kept informed.
Manage reactive media enquiries to proactively manage any media issues to protect Melbourne Water’s reputation by minimizing negative commentary.
Responds to media enquiries providing reactive media statements, briefing documents and support materials within tight deadlines
Oversee real time and daily media monitoring and surveillance distributing the daily media report and alerts to management, flagging emerging opportunities and issues.
There is a requirement of this role to acts as a media on-call (24/7) representative on a rotating on roster basis.

About you:
Demonstrated Media management experience and PR skills.
Previous experience across planning and implementing proactive media programs and outreach to support delivery of business priorities, projects and campaigns via owned and earned channels.
Demonstrated proactive and reactive media management skills, including preparation of spokesperson briefing and support materials.
Demonstrated experience in working closely with government and other key stakeholders to identify potential media opportunities and briefing materials.
Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Previous media training and experience across responding to public incidents advantageous
