Banff Sunshine Village is a world-class ski and snowboard resort in Banff, Alberta, famed for Canada’s Best Snow. The Marketing Administration Assistant is responsible for assisting the Sales, Marketing, Communications & Media departments with checking copy for Banff Sunshine Village’s marketing efforts and assisting with general department administration. Specifically, this position is responsible for writing, editing and grammar checking copy for items such as blogs, web pages, e-newsletters, press releases, brochures, and signage. This position reports to the Communications and Events Supervisor, and under the guidance of other senior personnel in Sales and Marketing, working closely with many Resort teams to animate the Banff Sunshine experience.
Job Functions
Work with the Media and Communications team to write best-in-class copy regularly in adherence to the Banff Sunshine Village brand guidelines, as well as edit and grammar check copy written by other team members prior to distribution online. Ensure all online public content is up-to-date and current on Banff Sunshine Villages websites (skibanff.com, sunshinemountainlodge.com, banffsunshinemeadows.com) and all partner websites.
Work with the Media & Communications team and other departments to draft weekly e-newsletters and blogs to promote conditions, sales, activities, and events.
Work directly with the Director of Brand & Communications to ensure all copy is in the Banff Sunshine Village voice.
Assist Communications and Events with administrative tasks to help keep the department(s) organized.
Working with other departments including Accounting, Human Resources, Hotel, Ski School, and Rentals.
Administrative and Reporting Responsibilities:
Keep an up to date media tracker, and influencer list
Keep a log of all earned media
Keep a file of all written press releases and major news
Organize and assist with PR events
Keep an accurate log of associated costs with content projects, film crews and events, including expense reporting and invoicing
Assist with social media and content needs as directed
Keep up to date on all Sunshine Village and industry news
Timely and accurate incident reporting to appropriate departments and personnel.
Ensuring company policies, including health and safety measures, and administration on the waiver/release program, for groups and events are consistently adhered to.
Other duties may be requested and assigned from time to time.
Experience/Requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in marketing, communications, journalism, marketing, or advertising (preferred) - OR - equivalent work experience in copy writing and editing.
Must have a professional understanding of copywriting for brand marketing purposes. Examples of previous copywriting work will be required to be presented for any applicant to be considered.
Must have a basic understanding of analytics, social media marketing, using website content management and email customer relationship management systems.
Must have an understanding of media relations, influencer marketing, and public relations.
Must be comfortable reporting on earned media metrics and pitching content ideas.
Outgoing, energetic, social, and creative personality.
Good time management skills, calm under pressure, patient, able to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs (Sharepoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.) is required, along with the ability to adapt quickly to new programs and procedures.
Must always maintain professional conduct when in uniform, and when acting as a company representative.
Prepared to work flexible schedules (evenings, weekends, holidays).
Prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Communicate effectively in English, both written and verbally.
Ability to work individually (self-starter) and as part of a team. Coachable, and willing to take direction.
Must be neat, punctual, and dependable.
Additional Considerations
Employees must always be of sound mind, exhibit good judgment, and report to work fit for duty.
This position will require overnight stays at on the mountain while working on projects. In addition, this role may work at night, and will be in a remote, alpine environment.
This position may at times deal with sensitive, personal information and confidentiality must be adhered to.
Skiing or snowboarding equipment used for work must be in good operating condition, meet Sunshine Village Equipment requirements, and will be tested throughout the season.
Required uniform pieces (liner, jacket, pants, toque) are provided. Employee must be prepared and wear appropriate footwear, gloves, layers, etc. for the conditions.
Valid AB driver’s license and a clean driving record. Occasional travel to Banff will be required.
