Job Description
The Medical Assistant (MA) plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care at the appropriate skill level. They are responsible for providing a standard of care that meets or exceeds that of a competent and knowledgeable Medical Assistant.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinates clinic work activities and schedules at one or multiple locations.
Administers clinic and InnovaCare Health policies and procedures in a consistent and timely manner.
Operates diagnostic equipment, removes staples from superficial wounds, changes wound dressing, and obtains cultures.
Administers non-intravenous medication, performs simple specimen collection via non-invasive techniques, and collects blood specimens via venipuncture or capillary.
Performs EKGs, X-rays, and assists with scribing as needed.
Requirements:
Medical Assistant Certificate issued by an accredited institution approved by the State licensed to work.
One year experience working in a healthcare setting with direct patient contact or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, venipuncture techniques, and data entry abilities.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified in AED and CPR.
At least 5 years as a certified medical assistant.
Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required.
Physical & Mental Requirements:
Required immunizations and vaccinations.
Able to lift upwards of 50 pounds, push or pull heavy objects using up to 100 pounds of force.
Able to stand or sit for extended periods, use fine motor skills to operate equipment, and properly drive and operate a company vehicle.
