About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Laboratory Technician to join our Histology team at Hawke’s Bay Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to essential diagnostic services in a supportive and professional environment.
As a Laboratory Technician in the Histology department, you will be responsible for:
Processing and preparing tissue samples for microscopic examination.
Performing routine histology techniques, including embedding, sectioning, and staining.
Ensuring quality control and compliance with laboratory standards.
Maintaining and operating laboratory equipment.
Collaborating with laboratory scientists and pathologists to support accurate diagnostics.

Our Histology team plays a vital role within the Hawke’s Bay Hospital Laboratory, providing high-quality diagnostic services that support patient care. You will be part of a skilled and dedicated team committed to excellence in laboratory science.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will:
Hold a relevant qualification in Medical Laboratory Technology.
Be registered (or eligible for registration) with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand.
Have experience working in a histology laboratory or a strong interest in developing expertise in this area.
Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and technical skills.
Have strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Be committed to maintaining high-quality standards and continuous professional development.
