Job Requirements
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Transcriptionist to join our healthcare team. As a Medical Transcriptionist, you will play a crucial role in converting voice recordings from physicians and other healthcare professionals into accurate and comprehensive medical reports. Your primary responsibility will be to use electronic devices and transcription software to transcribe and edit medical dictations, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of patient information.
Responsibilities:
• Listen to voice recordings made by physicians and other healthcare professionals and transcribe them into written reports using transcription software and electronic devices.
• Review and edit transcribed reports for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to medical terminology and documentation guidelines.
• Ensure the confidentiality and security of patient information by following established protocols and maintaining compliance with data protection regulations.
• Research and verify medical terminology, drugs, and procedures to ensure accurate transcription and report generation.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any unclear or ambiguous dictations and seek additional information when necessary.
• Identify and flag any inconsistencies, errors, or discrepancies in the dictations and work with healthcare providers to resolve them.
• Follow formatting guidelines and templates for different types of medical reports, such as consultation reports, discharge summaries, and operative notes.
• Prioritize and manage workload to meet transcription deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality standards.
• Stay updated with medical terminology, industry trends, and advancements in transcription technology and software.
• Maintain organized and accurate records of transcribed reports, ensuring easy retrieval and reference when needed.
• Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, and administrative staff, to ensure effective communication and coordination of transcription services.
• Participate in training programs and continuing education activities to enhance transcription skills and stay abreast of changes in medical documentation practices.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent. Additional certification or training in medical transcription is preferred.
• Proven experience as a Medical Transcriptionist or in a similar role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Excellent listening skills and a strong command of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
• Proficient in using transcription software, electronic devices, and computer applications for transcription purposes.
• In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Familiarity with medical documentation guidelines and formatting requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in transcribing and editing medical reports.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet transcription deadlines.
• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with data protection regulations.
