The Rail, Tram and Bus Union (RTBU) NSW Branch is looking for a Membership Officer to help deliver high-quality service to our members and ensure the smooth running of our membership systems.

About the Role

As Membership Officer, you’ll play a key role in maintaining accurate member records, handling inquiries, and supporting the day-to-day operations of our union. You’ll be the first point of contact for membership-related queries and will ensure every interaction reflects our commitment to our members.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain up-to-date records for financial and retired members.
Respond to membership inquiries from members, delegates, and organisers.
Provide membership lists and reports to internal teams.
Process applications, reinstatements, resignations, and payments with accuracy.
Prepare and send welcome packs to new members.
Manage returned mail and follow up with members.
Handle direct debit and credit card payments, including rejected transactions.
Ensure payment timelines comply with membership rules.
Send notices to unfinancial members.
Assist with bookings and member services for the RTBU Jervis Bay Holiday Park.
Support other tasks and projects as assigned.
What You’ll Bring

Experience using the iMIS membership system.
Strong customer service skills, ideally in a union or not-for-profit setting.
Excellent attention to detail, time management, and ability to work independently.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Basic understanding of financial processes like data entry and accounts payable/receivable.
