About the Role:
Join us in leading the next chapter of Aboriginal community-led mental health care.
As our Mental Health Lead, you will play a pivotal senior leadership role within the newly established Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Centre, which proudly opened its doors in September.
This is a rare opportunity to help shape the services, culture, and direction of a ground-breaking new initiative that places Aboriginal ways of healing, connection, and community at its heart.
Reporting to the Executive Manager, Innovation, Excellence & Primary Health and working closely with the Director of Operations, you will provide strong, culturally grounded clinical leadership to a passionate and growing multidisciplinary team. You’ll guide the integration of Social and Emotional Wellbeing and Traditional Healing pathways to ensure seamless, holistic, and trauma-informed care for individuals, families, and communities.
Your leadership will champion self-determination, cultural safety, and lived experience, ensuring that human rights and Aboriginal worldviews are embedded in every aspect of service design and delivery.
Experience Requirements:
Proven leadership experience in mental health, ideally working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
Clinical expertise and experience supervising multidisciplinary teams while maintaining high standards of clinical governance and cultural safety.
Experience in co-designing and delivering trauma-informed and culturally grounded programs and models of care.
Strong understanding of Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing frameworks, clinical risk management, and holistic approaches to mental health.
Demonstrated ability to build and sustain collaborative relationships with stakeholders, community, and partner organisations.
A deep respect for, or willingness to develop a deeper understanding of, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, community dynamics, and the importance of self-determination in service delivery.
Qualification and Other Requirements:
Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, or a related field, with eligibility for professional registration.
Currently have or willing to receive the required vaccinations under the SA Health Policy.
Additional qualifications in clinical supervision or leadership are highly regarded.
Current or willing to obtain a Working with Children's Check (WWCC)
Current or willing to obtain a National Police Check (NPC)
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identifying individuals are strongly encouraged to apply!
How to apply:
Feel free to send any enquiries to sondercareers@sonder.net.au
Advert Closing Date: Wednesday 8 April 2026
