Job Summary:
Merchandiser - The candidate will be responsible for identifying fabric & garment manufacturers, and developing the garment samples for the assigned product/style while working closely with the Vendors. As part of the product development team s/he will also be providing support in identifying opportunities for cost-saving, onboarding new vendors, and executing the agenda for the department in the assigned product.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Planning and developing merchandising strategies
Analyzing sales figures, customers reactions, and market trends to anticipate product needs
Collaborating with buyers, suppliers, distributors, and analysts to negotiate prices, quantities, and time-scales
Vendor identification - Fabric, apparel & accessories.
Assist in the development of tech-packs and BOM.
Works with vendors for development sampling and initial costs
Manages counter costing; Handling samples; Tracking fit approvals; Tracking lab dips - Following up with vendor on system-updates
Manages wear-test samples and tailoring samples
Ensures Systems are updated with costs and details
Place purchase order after commercial finalization
Partners with Brand Design, R&D, and key suppliers to develop innovative and quality products - Partners with Mill management, QA, and technical teams to resolve fabric or quality issues
Coordinate with suppliers & manufacturers for timely delivery of the PO.
Resolve any quality issues in the garments received from the suppliers.
Role:
Handling & Sampling material from the vendor, Managing vendor & Creating appealing visual displays that suit our target market, budget, and the latest trends.
Education & Skills:
Bachelor’s Diploma / Degree in Fashion Technology or engineering in textile technology
Good in the calculation of cost.
Merchandise Sourcing Knowledge - Experience in sample development and with offshore production exposure; in a large-sized buying office or trading company
Knowledge of advanced excel is a must.
Soft Skills Required:
Excellent Leadership and influencing skills
Effective mentoring, counseling, and motivating skills
Good learning & adaptability skills
Data-driven decision making
Openness to criticism
High proficiency in written & spoken communication skills.
Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences and devising campaigns that engage, inform and motivate
