Purpose:

The Merchandising Assistant position is a new role focused on supporting the merchandise business of Manchester United. The role will report to the Senior Merchandising Manager.

The business operates across product licensing, wholesale, ecommerce and physical retail and the role will involve administrative support and close intake management to help shape performance.

The Role:

Key Responsibilities:

ORDER MANAGEMENT

End to end management of orderbook including chasing suppliers, updating dates, managing supplier bookings & communicating changes to wider business.

Collates wholesale order files to MU Partners and raises POs ensuring relevant trackers updated.

Updates range plans with relevant info including partner order quantities and confirmed delivery dates.

Sizes and raises POs on orders; updating PO trackers and range plan accordingly.

Tracks and provides product set up info on orders; updating PO trackers and range plan accordingly.

Amend allocations as directed by Merchandiser/Junior Merchandiser.

PO / STOCK MANAGEMENT

Works with Retail Ops team to ensure end to end process of PO complete including raising POs, providing relevant product code/barcode info to supplier, product set up and booking in with warehouse.

Checks and balances to ensure all purchase orders are received by supplier and filed correctly.

Provides delivery updates to wider MUFC/Partner teams where required.

Manages and communicates launch trackers for key product launches.

TRADING

Supports with trade slides and adhoc analysis for Megastore and online store.

Takes lead role in managing all product attribution (through range plan).

Collates Megastore pricing proposal weekly for sign off with JM/SMM; including any store requests but driven by overall stock file review of slow sellers and fragmented sizes.

ANALYSIS

Ad-hoc analysis requirements to support wider business functions.

The Person:

Essential:

Strong organisation, accuracy, and attention to detail

Confident with Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) and PowerPoint

Good communicator – written and verbal

Analytical mindset; comfortable with data and reporting

Previous experience in merchandising, buying, or retail admin - desirable

Familiar with retail, wholesale, and e-commerce operations

Experience with PO systems or product/range planning tools - desirable

Proactive, self-motivated, and reliable

Team-oriented and collaborative

Adaptable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Commercial awareness of product performance and stock flow
