Job Description
Receive and log metal samples from production lines or other sources.
- Properly prepare samples for testing by cutting, grinding, polishing, or other methods as required.
- Weigh and label samples accurately.
- **Basic Testing**:
- Conduct routine metallurgical tests such as hardness testing, tensile testing, microscopic analysis, chemical analysis (using basic techniques).
- Operate and maintain standard laboratory equipment like hardness testers, microscopes, balances, and basic analytical instruments.
- **Data Collection and Recording**:
- Accurately record test results and observations in laboratory notebooks.
- Maintain detailed logs of testing activities and equipment calibration records.
- Assist with data analysis and report preparation under supervision.
- **Laboratory Maintenance**:
- Clean and maintain laboratory equipment and work areas according to safety protocols.
- Manage inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents.
- Perform basic troubleshooting on equipment and report issues to the appropriate personnel.
- **Safety Compliance**:
- Adhere to all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report any safety hazards or incidents immediately.
