J.P. Morgan's Model Risk Governance and Review (MRGR) in Mumbai was set up in 2016 as an extension of the Firm's global MRGR teams around the world. This position is a part of the Statistical Model Validation team within MRGR Mumbai. The Mumbai team would work in sync with the New York team on assessing performance of quantitative models used throughout the firm, including pricing models, risk models, and empirical forecasting models used in major lines of business, including Corporate Investment Bank, Consumer Banking, and Corporate Risk. Team members have opportunities for exposure to a variety of projects and models used extensively within the bank. Primary Responsibilities:
• Design and implement algorithms for financial data analysis (primarily on Python)
• Write reusable, testable, and efficient code
Essential Skills: Programming:
• Ability to efficiently code in any of the object-oriented languages such as C++ or high-level languages such as Python.
• Experience in web development.
• Ability to perform analysis on huge sets of data (pandas, numpy, scipy, numerical recipes, stl, boost or similar libraries)
• Basic understanding of design patterns, databases and parallel computing.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills as the frequent sync-ups with the New York team would be required. Desired Skills:
• Quantitative and Analytical Skills: probability theory, statistics, econometrics and numerical analysis.
• Some Knowledge of Financial Markets. Expertise in stochastic calculus and derivatives theory is plus.
• Familiarity with big data concepts and machine learning libraries (tensorflow, keras, theano or similar)
Ideal candidates for these positions would be a graduate/post-graduate from a premier college or institute with 4-7 years of experience. A computer science or mathematics background would be most suitable. J.P.
