Role Responsibilities

Strategy

Focus on Process Efficiency and align to the Record to Close (R2R) processes.
• Ensure to achieve efficiency in processes, quality, and cost.
• Ability to connect to the big picture.

Business
• Effective stakeholder management for respective processes across geographies.

Processes
• Strong Analytical and Strategic mindset, coupled with a thorough understanding of Accounting and Financial Control in Banking Industry with experience in transformation of book close processes.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure, multitask, lead through ambiguities, influence where candidate does not have direct authority and build on unstructured formative situations.
• Ensuring that continuous efficiency improvement in R2R activities and an established process exists to constantly identify and implement improvement opportunities.
• A team player with the management ability and track record to secure the confidence and respect of the peers, stakeholders, and the executive management team.
• Significant experience of working with management team and interfacing with Non-finance community and Finance community and influencing stakeholders.
• Substantial experience of banking, depth. and breadth of knowledge in processes especially in the areas of Project accounting and related processes
• Ability to understand and connect business drivers and rationale for and application of those relevant to the Technology and Innovation processes.
• Strong ability to understand and prepare periodical MIS and its drivers and synthesize them into meaningful analyses as required.
• Able to quickly establish professional presence and have an excellent communication, analytical and decision-making skills.
• Ability to design and build structured processes with consensus of key leaders in the wider organisation.
• Ability to Validate the documents for accruals and investigate, work on the aged / risk balances if any.
• Experience on risk reporting on the various business/segments on bank from accounting perspective.
• Develop analysis and interpretations as required to facilitate management decision making.
• Implement process to eliminate nonvalue added activities in future.

People and Talent
• Nurture Team bonding and team engagement

Risk Management
• Provide insights and brainstorm the mitigation measures with respective function leads.
• Highlight delays and related impact considering inter dependencies.

Governance
• Monitor and track progress of all activities scheduled / completed / ongoing during the close period through out.
• Publish the RAG status for all critical activities across the close cycle.
• Drive initiatives towards Fast Closure of books.

Regulatory and Business Conduct
• Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct.
• Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
• Lead to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank's Conduct Principles: [Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance; The Right Environment].
• Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate, and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
• Exercise authorities delegated by the Board of Directors and act in accordance with Articles of Association.

• T&I CFO and T&I finance domain leads and Group served by GFS.
• Various business heads of GFS.
• Investments Finance team.

Other Responsibilities
• External auditors, local and overseas
• Senior members of other Finance Shared Services centres in the industry

Our Ideal Candidate
• Chartered Accountant with 5 years or MBA with 10 years of relevant finance experience in Accounting and Control Finance process.
• In-depth knowledge of the e2e book close process in a large international Bank or manufacturing industries and relevant key measures that drives effectiveness of these processes.
• Effective communication skills, including presenting and influencing senior management.
• Strong understanding of financial industry, specifically banking products, and services.
• Relationship and stakeholder management skills is important.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to influence others in decision making.
• Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills.
• Initiative and proactive thinking.
