We are seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator to join our team. As a SQL Database Administrator, you will be responsible for supporting and administering both production and non-production SQL environments, in cloud and on-premises. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of database management systems, strong problem-solving, communication and presentation skills.

In this role, you will handle various day-to-day database administration tasks, including the installation and configuration of SQL Servers, daily system health checks, database releases, backups, restores, performance monitoring and troubleshooting, as well as vulnerability investigation and remediation. You will also resolve moderately complex issues related to data and access while working on both BAU (Business as Usual) and project-related activities.

You are expected to have proficiency in T-SQL and PowerShell scripting for administrative and reporting tasks, as well as a solid understanding of report-building and data analytics using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS, Power BI) or other relevant reporting tools.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, optimise query performance, ensure data integrity and security, and provide actionable reports and visualisations. Throughout these interactions, you will leverage your strong verbal, written, and presentation skills to effectively communicate solutions, insights, and recommendations.

The key duties of the position include
Build, configure, upgrade, and migrate SQL databases to ensure reliability and efficiency.
Perform regular performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and tuning to maintain optimal database operations.
Conduct backup/restore procedures and data integrity checks to safeguard critical information.
Work closely with internal systems engineers and operational teams to understand database requirements or to resolve any arise issue.
Communicate clearly and proactively with customers and end-users to gather feedback, manage expectations, and present technical information in an accessible manner.
Monitor Microsoft SQL Server performance metrics, proactively identifying areas for improvement in efficiency and scalability.
Investigate and resolve database-related incidents and issues, providing timely support to minimize downtime.
Develop and optimise reports and visualisations using SSRS, Power BI, or other relevant reporting tools.
Use T-SQL and PowerShell scripting to generate automated and on-demand reports, presenting findings to stakeholders in a clear and compelling way.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database configuration, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Ensure documentation is up-to-date and accessible, promoting knowledge sharing across the organisation.
Adhere to database security principles and best practices, including access controls and data encryption.
Identify and remediate potential vulnerabilities, ensuring alignment with compliance and regulatory requirements.
Perform after-hours maintenance work as necessary, with overtime provisions as outlined in the Enterprise Agreement.
