Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist retail and third-party originators and processors with inquiries regarding guidelines and income requirements.
• Manage a small pipeline of loans, ensuring timely decision-making for final approvals within your underwriting authority.
• Review all types of appraisals for final approval, including issuing Notice of Value (NOVs) and addressing HFS/USDA conditional requirements.
• Stay current with and participate in training on investor guidelines to enhance underwriting expertise.
• Collaborate with management to review and respond to quality control and quality assurance exceptions.
• Be prepared to take on additional duties as assigned, contributing to the efficiency and success of the team.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in underwriting FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, or USDA Rural Housing investor loans.
• FHA Direct Endorsement (DE) certification.
• VA SAR certification.
• Demonstrated experience in mortgage loan underwriting.
• Strong understanding of underwriting and compliance guidelines.
• Proficiency with the DeskTop Underwriter System.
• Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle workflows effectively.
• Excellent customer service abilities.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, and other PC applications.
• College coursework is a plus.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit for extended periods and use a computer keyboard and mouse while viewing screens.
