IMAT, the sole ****** Treatment Program in Fairbanks, is seeking a qualified Behavioral Health Addiction Counselor. This position offers an opportunity to apply your expertise in addiction counseling while contributing to ethical and compassionate patient care.
The position is available immediately.
Compensation & Schedule
Pay: Starting $26 - $32 per hour, depending on experience (DOE) and credentials.
Hours: 20-25 hours per week. Start and end times are flexible.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must possess or be actively working toward a Master’s Degree in Counseling or a related field.
Candidates must possess or be willing to work toward Alaska Chemical Dependency Counselor Certification
Role and Duties
As a Behavioral Health Addiction Counselor, you will be a key part of the comprehensive care team, helping individuals navigate recovery from ****** Use Disorder. Core duties include:
Therapeutic Engagement: Establish a therapeutic alliance with consumers, utilizing principles of compassion, authenticity, honesty, and harm reduction to facilitate trust.
Clinical Services: Provide screening, assessment, individual, and group counseling using evidence-based treatments.
Documentation: Maintain the integrity and quality of care by accurately managing consumer file documentation according to established standards, preparing required reports and other necessary records.
Support & Advocacy: Provide support through advocacy, education, and assistance with resource identification.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively within a dedicated, multidisciplinary team environment.
On-boarding Activities
Initial on-boarding will include hands-on engagement with essential program functions, such as:
Front Desk: Gaining familiarity with consumer flow by assisting with front desk reception to ensure a positive and welcoming environment.
Wellness Support: Distributing essential wellness supplies to directly support the physical and mental well-being of our consumers.
Dosing Check-in: Participating in the daily medication dosing check-in process to understand a vital program function.
Necessary Skills and Competencies
Experience working in human services or the substance abuse field is preferred.
Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication, along with strong interpersonal skills.
Must maintain a high ethical standard.
Ability to understand and support Medication Assisted Treatment.
Possess above-average communication skills and have experience working with people from diverse cultures, lifestyles, and beliefs.
Comfortable asking questions and seeking clarification.
Ability to maintain personal and professional boundaries.
Must pass a criminal background check.
Must have a current Alaska driver’s license and own reliable transportation.
Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
Demonstrate adaptive skills such as flexibility, self-awareness, coachability, and good listening skills.
